Zero to Hero… Treble Cone’s season so far for 2016

It was a glum start to the season for all of the Southern Lakes' ski resorts. Actually it was glum everywhere around the country if we're being honest. But the mountains are singing a very different story now.

Treble Cone had to delay their opening this year for one simple reason… none of this glorious white stuff we all crave.

It’s amazing what a difference a few weeks make though. In literally about a two week period, TC went from zero snow to hero snow, making the current conditions some of the best I’ve every experienced on that mountain.

Just last week, on the reported 50cms pow day that saw many locals exercise their “powder day clause” at work, I experienced some phenomenal snow. Knee-deep fresh on every aspect. How often does that happen in NZ? Let’s be honest, when it snows in this Land of Long White Cloud, it usually comes with at least a little wind (to put it mildly). But not in this day. It had snowed straight down and every single line was ON at Treble Cone.

I was fortunate to spend most of the week at TC (wearing numerous hats) and we even found time to test out a new 360 video rig in the Matukituki Basin. Check it out…

We’ll be back at TC tomorrow filming (and riding in) the renowned Treble Cone Banked Slalom event. Can’t wait!

Every resort has amazing conditions right now, so where ever you head this weekend… enjoy!
