Most reputed for its friendly and genuine vibe, Cardrona is widely considered the most suitable mountain in the Southern Lakes for families and beginners. Here, beginners will find amazing terrain to learn to ski or snowboard on, and intermediates will find themselves easily progressing to the next level.
That’s not to say that advanced skiers and riders won’t enjoy the mountain too. Cardrona has some fun freeride terrain, with a selection of short chutes and plenty of fun off-piste areas to be discovered. Cardrona is also home to one of the best halfpipes in the world and a a number of perfectly-shaped terrain parks.
Cardrona’s main basin is served by two chairlifts, one high-speed quad and one fixed-grip quad, along with two excellent magic carpets (surface conveyor lifts) and a platter tow specifically for the Olympic Halfpipe. The second basin, known as Captains, is accessed by another high-speed quad, and the lower half of the mountain is serviced by a fourth quad chair – the recently added Valley View chairlift which almost doubled Cardrona’s vertical rise and skiable terrain.
The base facilities are of a high standard, with numerous on-mountain cafes, a rental and tuning shop, snow retail shop, kids creche facilities and a selection of serviced apartments.
