45 minutes drive from Queenstown, The Remarkables features a fantastic selection of progressive terrain parks with wide, gentle slopes for beginners of all ages through to big mountain steeps and hiking options galore for the experts in the family.
The Remarkables is a great to place to learn as it has some of the regions’ best beginner terrain. It’s also a great place to explore off-piste with a series of challenging black diamond runs and plenty of side-country hiking options.
Remarks, as it’s known by locals, has an extensive terrain parks with perfectly-shaped jumps and lots of creative jib features. While there’s no halfpipe, the park here is often considered the best place for those looking to progress their freestyle skiing/riding, as it offers some of the best progression from beginner to advanced features. Furthermore, this is home to the only Burton Stash in NZ – a “natural feature” park with wooden log slides, rock jibs and lots of other creative use of terrain.
The ski area is serviced by three fixed grip quad chairlifts, and three magic carpet-style surface lifts and a handle tow. There is a fully licensed cafe, kids creche, rental equipment and retail shop. They also offer purpose-built snow tubing lanes, great for the younger ones (and the big kids who aren’t skiing or snowboarding).
