Managed by Matthew Hawkes who brings almost 20 years experience in hospitality ranging from independent restaurants and 4.5 star hotels to private clubs. Matty, as everyone knows him, moved to Queenstown from Invercargill with his family in 2011, and took over the management of Cavells mid 2012.
Matty and his team make all their own pies and pastry products, baked goods, cakes and slices. Chad’s Carrot Cake is already well known for being one of the best in town (well, we think so!). As well as snacks, Cavells has a fantastic wine list and is happy to quote for functions or groups.
Open daily (except Dec 25th) with ample parking space and room in the gardens for the kids, bikes or pets. The fully licensed cafe bar is nestled on the bank by the Old Cavells Bridge with outstanding views of the mountains and Shotover river. The perfect way to dine and relax.
