Widely praised as one of the world’s hottest new artists, Sultana is a one-woman musical powerhouse enjoying incredible success with sold-out shows all over Australasia, Europe and America. She will perform at this year’s seventh annual Rhythm & Alps music festival, where up to 10,000 revellers will converge in Wanaka’s iconic Cardrona Valley from December 29-31.
Australia-born Sultana, 21, catapulted into the international music scene after her self-made online music videos went viral, attracting millions of viewers around the globe. Prior to this, she busked on the streets of Melbourne, fine-tuning her multiple talents as a singer-songwriter, beat boxer, guitarist and loopologist.
Rhythm & Alps festival director Alex Turnbull says he’s stoked to confirm Sultana as one of the 2017 event’s headline acts.
“Tash is a modern-day music phenomenon and we’re really excited to bring her to Wanaka for Rhythm & Alps 2017,” he says. “She’s huge not only in New Zealand and Australia, but around the world – she’s selling out shows everywhere from Paris to New York. She’s a really unique, high-quality artist and utterly captivating to watch live.”
Registrations for discounted early-bird tickets to the festival, held at Robrosa Station, are now open at www.rhythmandalps.co.nz and a limited number of early-bird tickets can be purchased from 9am next Monday, April 10. Festival tickets are $124 for a New Year’s Eve pass or $137 for a two-day pass. Festival and camping passes are $165 for one night on December 31, $207 for two nights or $232 for three nights.
“Rhythm & Alps is the ultimate New Year’s party – awesome music, immaculate production, magic scenery and a relaxed atmosphere make for an epic few days,” Turnbull adds. “We’re expecting another sell-out festival this year and the early-bird tickets are generally snapped up very quick.”
Further headline acts and the full Rhythm & Alps 2017 festival lineup will be announced in the coming months.
“We are talking to some brilliant artists who are keen to come down,” Turnbull says. “Rhythm & Alps has an excellent reputation on the international touring circuit as a first-class festival and this reputation enables us to secure some amazing acts.”
